Contemplative Outreach Northern Nevada Centering Prayer Retreat – Presbyterian Retreat Center, Zephyr Cove, Lake Tahoe, Nevada – Saturday, 31 March 2012
Standing on the rocks
Wintergray storm approaching,
I beseech my God.
Blackness visits now,
Far too familiar to leave –
Hated companion!
Waiting to exhale
Because it’s harder to breathe
When turning fifty.
Heart held in her hand
With the moon to guide her light:
Angel’s message home.
Feeling comforted
By the sharp silver grasped close,
Finally able to sleep.
Sparrow year by year
Works to build a better world.
One day she just stops.
When she tried it last
And asked for mom to visit,
Three long years went by.
He told her that it’s
Like death when it happens.
She’d like to scream, can’t.
Alone in her room
Determining the question:
Will she reach fifty?
