Early morning mirror
In the harsh and tired light,
Wrinkles cannot hide.
Early morning mirror
In the harsh and tired light,
Wrinkles cannot hide.
Smokers, partiers’
Hotel hall noise as my sleep
Falls into nightmares.
You, in the garden
Paused and looked me in the eye
Before you moved on.
Saguaro breezes,
Thousand miles from the basin –
Love bursts boundaries.
Lower the bucket,
Searching for fresh, cool water –
Already taken.
Two dead fetuses,
Lost daughters – are they with us?
Hearts were ripped open.
Days, months, years ‘til now.
Path through vagaries of life.
Eyes and hearts opened.
Dogs snoring closeby;
Rise and fall of your breathing –
Angels know I’m loved.
Jumping off the bridge —
Gravity cannot be blamed.
Hitting the water.
